The UK does have less bank holidays than other G20 countries where the typical average is 12 days, whilst there are no plans for additional dates by the current Government, the UK main opposition party has proposed an additional bank holiday for each of the nations that make up the UK, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

These would be on each nation’s patron saint day – St David’s Day on 1 March, St Patrick’s Day on 17 March, St George’s Day on 23 April and St Andrew’s Day on 30 November.
